Cubic Zirconia is a lab created crystal. Almost all good quality roughs are a composition of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) and yttrium oxide. Fused under high temperature, a carefully programmed cooling procedure is adhered to form this flawless crystal. |
Colored CZs mimicking emeralds, rubies, sapphires, amethyst, topaz, tanzanite etc are created by adding various oxides like Iron, Neodymium, Cerium, Copper, Vanadium, Holmium etc. Both colorless and colored CZ stones are used for making CZ jewelry. CZ stones are popular choice for cz rings of all kinds like engagements rings, signet rings, fashion rings, sterling silver rings, wedding rings, ring sets, gold rings etc. Click here to see our CZ ring collection. We also carry CZ bracelets which can be viewed by clicking here. |
German mineralogists, Von Stackelberg and Chudoba are credited for discovering CZ in natural form. However, it was Soviet scientists which invented the technique to create CZ in a laboratory. The best quality CZs are created from Russian formula. The CZ was 1st marketed in the year 1977 under the name “Djevalite” but it got its fame only after an Australian producer of leaded crystal, began producing cubic zirconia for mass consumption in 1980. |

The Best Cubic Zirconia crystals are colorless like diamonds and given proper care and cleaning are known to retain their color and sparkle or brilliance. CZ comes closest to diamonds not only in appearance but in physical properties as well. The overall effect is so similar to a diamond that trained gemologists often require special equipment to tell them apart. Having said that, though in appearance, cubic Zirconia looks almost exactly like a good quality diamond. but there are some differences between the two. |
The CZ is almost 70 to 75 percent heavier than real diamonds. CZ has more fire, flashes of rainbow colors but sparkles (brilliance) less than diamond. Another major difference is hardness. With a hardness rating of 8.5, CZ comes close to matching diamond's perfect 10. |
Flawless diamond is not only very expensive but rare. Reports indicate that one in three diamonds sold in the United States today has been altered to mask defects or misrepresented to enhance selling price. The result of these unfortunate realities is that the experience of buying a diamond is an uncertain, somewhat perilous and very expensive endeavor. Precisely for these reasons CZ attained its popularity. Wearing diamond jewelry in our opinion is nothing but a mind set. |
The finest CZ is laser cut to exact tolerances, according to the proportions demanded in fine diamond cutting. Finely cut CZ's will have a polished girdle and more. Some of the popular cuts/shapes are : Marquise, Oval, Emerald, Radiant, Princess, Heart, Triangle etc. |

The size of the gemstone is usually indicated by its weight in carats, a carat being 1/5 of a gram or 1/142 of an oz. |

Frequent cleaning of CZ stone will help in maintaining the brilliance. Given proper care cubic zirconia (CZ) fashion jewelry and sterling silver CZ jewelry can last many many years. A mild detergent or jewelry cleaner liquids are good to enough for keeping your cubic zirconia engagements ring, signet ring, fashion ring, sterling silver ring, wedding ring, ring set, gold ring sparkling. Jewelry experts don’t hesitate to recommend even ultra sonic jewelry cleaners owing to hardness of the CZ stone. Unless instructions say otherwise, the cz jewelry should be wiped and dried thoroughly when cleaned with liquid to avoid residual liquid to form a film which will dull the brilliance.
|
It is recommended to avoid taking shower or bathing with CZ jewelry, also while applying makeup. The soap and shampoo can leave a film which can dampen the brilliance of the CZ gem. Removing CZ jewelry before cleaning and undertaking heavy work will also help you in maintaining CZ jewelry. It is good practice to avoid touching the CZ gem so as to avoid passing the natural oil and dirt which can dull the sparkle of this beautiful gem. |
